Do It Again 03:44
I do it again And nothing can stop me now I go unafraid As they stay idle to themselves I made it for me But you’re all I see I feel unsure How’s this? Sitting here Stuck in my head again I’m over it Let go I do it again Only the best I do it again Sit boy wonder While the others Hide I know better Sit with pride I made it for me But you’re all I see I feel unsure How’s this? Sitting here Stuck in my head again I’m over it Let go I made it for me But this time I don’t care What you declare Ah ah ah ah ah I do it again Do it again Nothing is final I go unafraid

INTRO Tell him how you are, are Are you going too far? V1 Lonely for the moment Wait here knowing Don’t say sorry For the thunder I’ll see you home Never alone CHORUS Anywhere, anytime You’ve got the rest of your life V2 Make the most Of your jailhouse Don’t rock the boat Leave your troubles In their padded world You’ll be back home Brave and strong CHORUS Anywhere, anytime You’ve got the rest of your life

Get Out 04:06
I wish I could find your gaze Stuck inside, rotate Leave the noise for suchi Claiming that they knew me Turn me into sushi And let the waves go through me Sometimes I’m tiny Tuck me into bed and let me find the words I’ve got to get out So I can find you Try to reach out Go back to the start I’ve got to get out So I can find you Try to reach out And find I won’t give you up We know, don’t take ourselves away You reminded me again Of what it was back then Am I insane Or is the world beside me No longer spinning When your face was spiralling Put me down gently I’m losing energy exponentially Save me from myself Aaaaahhhhh Everywhere we go Turning inside out See you through the mask Turning it around Ahhhhh Reach over to me now Ahhhh I want to be Outside

about

On his debut mini-album, I’m Never Really Here, darvid thor (The Cactus Channel, Frida, Karate Boogaloo) explores what it’s like to make music alone. After playing and writing in bands for over a decade, I’m Never Really Here is darvid’s first solo venture, and it finds real solace in the solitary.

These songs might seem just dreamy on first listen, with their meandering guitar lines and warm, woozy synthesisers, Thor’s voice at turns a light falsetto and a warm tenor but I’m Never Really Here handles material that’s sometimes heavy with a light touch. At times anxious and quietly anguished, tender and candid, these are songs about a growing-up, a breakup, and everything in between. There are traces of Darvid’s soul influences and undergrad jazz degree here, but most present are the wide array of indie and alternative acts that have been influencing his singing, playing, and production: catchy and understatedly complex, these songs both sparkle and stutter.

Darvid recorded I’m Never Really Here alone in his bedroom — but for some drum/percussion help from Cactus Channel bandmate Hudson Whitlock on lead single “Rest of Your Life” and drum production from housemate Max Dowling (Yelderbert, Tetrahedra) on “overgrown” — over the course of a year or so. Having spent most of his musical career as an integral member of The Cactus Channel and Frida, Thor saw a solo project as an exhilarating, if daunting opportunity to learn more about himself, as a musician and as a person.

His sweet melancholy of jangly guitars and warbled synthesizers have afforded support from Beach Fossils, Danger Mouse, Double J, Triple J Unearthed and Indie Shuffle, to name a few. Live, Darvid expands his setup to a four-piece band including Lewis Coleman, Levi Heeringa & Hugh Rabinovici.
